Mid-Century French Impressionist Oil on Board by Muratore - Provençal Village Scene

Found in Paris, a Mid-Century oil on board in a pretty Montparnasse frame, signed by the French artist “Muratore”.
Muratore was part of an extraordinary family of southern French painters active in the 20th century, particularly around Provence and the Côte d’Azur. Several Muratore artists exhibited in regional salons in Nice, Cannes and Marseille between 1930s and 1960s. Their work would typically depict beautiful Meditaranean villages, sun washed façades and harbour scenes.
The painting has a vibrant, impressionistic style depicting a colourful village street scene, possibly in Provence. Broad thick brush strokes, slightly impasto in style. A wonderful palette, classic southern France - similar in style to the paintings by the celebrated artist Maria-Mela Muter.
