Late Victorian English Open Armchair c.1880

A handsome and generously proportioned English open armchair dating from the late 19th century.
The chair has a tall, deep-buttoned back, softly rolled open arms and a broad, comfortable seat. The beautiful shaped front legs are well turned and deeply fluted in walnut, with a rich, time-worn surface. The swept square back legs and original brass castors with brown ceramic wheels complete the frame.
Recently and traditionally re-upholstered, the chair has been finished in a fire-retardant barrier cloth and is ready for the customer’s chosen top fabric. Alternatively, we would be very happy to arrange the final upholstery on request.
A wonderfully comfortable and elegant chair, with plenty of presence without feeling overly formal.
English, c.1800-1900
