Late 18th Century Italian Walnut Side Table with Decorative Turned Legs
A finely crafted Italian walnut side table of excellent proportions, with a rich, centuries-old patina and sublime colour.
The rectangular plank top has a broad framed border and a beautifully worn surface of warm honey and tobacco tones. A single frieze drawer retains its decorative iron ring handle.
The exceptional craftsmanship is shown in the four boldly turned legs, with a beautifully balanced arrangement of balusters, collars and slender sections, terminating in rounded bun feet. An elegantly shaped X-stretcher joins the legs.
A particularly handsome table, distinguished by the quality of its turning, architectural balance and remarkable colour.
