Large Architectural English Oak Glazed Cupboard

A beautiful and imposing English oak glazed cupboard, sourced from a private country house estate.

Of generous scale and strong architectural proportions, the cupboard has a rich, warm honey-brown colour and a particularly attractive aged patina.

The upper section is framed by a substantial moulded cornice, with two original glazed doors opening to a painted interior with adjustable shelving. Below, two large fielded panel doors are finished with shaped corner mouldings, decorative ecclesiastical brass mounts and original locks and escutcheons.

The quality of the cabinetmaking is all there in the substantial oak construction, beautifully worked mouldings and attention to the smaller decorative details. The restrained Gothic influence gives the cupboard additional character without detracting from its simple, well-balanced form.

An exceptional piece of English country house furniture, combining architectural presence, craftsmanship and generous practical storage. Equally suited to a kitchen, dining room or library.

In beautiful original condition - if you look hard enough, you’ll see a tiny nick at the top right hand side, which doesn’t affect the cupboard’s quality or appearance .
