French Mid-Century Turned Elm Occassional Table

A beautifully made mid-century occassional table, turned from solid elm.
The small dished top sits on a tall, gently tapered pedestal above a broad circular base, set on five small bun feet. The top and base show off the lovely expressive grain of the elm.
In France this would have been known as a tables de fumeur - a ‘smoking’ table designed to sit neatly beside an armchair…also perfect for a glass of wine, cup of tea or a book.
