Exceptional Welsh Oak Side Table with an Extraordinary Figured Top, c.1800

A glorious Welsh side table - this beautiful table reminds me that vernacular furniture is every bit as powerful as grand country house pieces.

This is certainly one of the best pieces I’ve ever owned. The extraordinary pale, bone-dry surface is almost silvery-grey with a dramatic figured grain. It is all about the naturally aged colour.

Then we have the perfect proportions and finished off with an exquisite decorative shaped apron.
