A rare example of a sculptural Swedish Kubbstol in remarkable condition.
Dug out, carved and shaped - this scuptural Swedish kubbstol is a perfect example of Scandinavian vernacular craftsmanship. Originally found in rural farmhouses across Sweden and Norway , kubbstolar were practical household pieces used beside the hearth, often storing wool, spinning equipment , textiles or other domestic necessities beneath the seat. Now appreciated as icons of Scandinavian folk design.
This exceptional chair has developed a deep patina over many years of use - the colour tones are rich and mellow. The original hand-forged iron catches are still in place.
