19th Century Iberian Chestnut Console / Lamp Table

I love this charming little table , I had to buy it. The top has mellowed to a rich honey, almost buttery tone - soft and tactile. The patina is exceptional , the marks and variations are all signs of a good life.

The dark base is also chestnut , cut from boards with a heavier grain - the darker colour gives the piece a wonderful contrast and depth.

Raised on square tapered legs, giving a touch of understated elegance. It has two useful drawers, the larger central drawer has the original iron escutcheon and shows clear signs of much use , the smaller end drawer is finished with a simple turned knob.

In short, a beautiful little table - a quiet head-turner. It is all about the richness and depth of colour, the softness of the surface and its perfectly balanced proportions.
