A 19th Century Alpine Folk Painted Cupboard

A striking, elegant 19th century provincial solid pine cupboard from the Alpine -Pyrenean region, bordering Catalonia. In a fabulous later deep charcoal paint patina , the edges softened over time and wear.

This useful cupboard has the authentic, honest character of rural mountain craftsmanship. A piece of furniture with a quiet architectural presence , finished off with simple decorative carved mouldings around the door, the base has a pretty hand shaped scalloped lower apron.

The dark exterior contrasts beautifully with the warm natural timber within.
