A 19th Century Alpine Folk Painted Cupboard

A handsome solid pine cupboard from the Alpine -Pyrenean region, bordering Catalonia.

This authentic cupboard has the honest character of rural mountain craftsmanship. A piece of furniture with an architectural presence - finished with simple decorative carved mouldings around the door, the base has a decorative hand shaped scalloped lower apron.

In a fabulous later deep charcoal paint patina , the edges worn and softened over time. The dark matt exterior contrasts perfectly with the warm natural timber within.

The fixed timber shelves provide lots of useful storage.
